WHALES & PENGUINS :
Most of the baleen species (Blue, fin, Humpback, Minke, Right, Sei and Sperm whales) breed in tropical and sub tropical waters and migrate to Antarctic waters during austral summer, feed on rich diet of krill for four months and again migrate back to temperate waters. In 1923 Scientists observed that some of the species are at the verge of extinction. Hence during International Whaling Convention held in Washington in 1946, proper rules for preservation of Whales were framed. Thus complete extinction of some of the mammoth mammal species was avoided. Inspite of rules formed many countries in the name of scientific studies, are still killing the whales. It is a cause for concern.
Emperor, King, Adelie, Macaroni, Gentoo, Chinstrap and Rockhopper are the prominent species of Penguins. Human interference in their rookeries and unnecessary killing is effecting their breed. This has to stop.
