Police Mails - Postage stamp collection
During the days of early settlement the South Australian Police Force performed many various functions including the carriage of mails to those small isolated communities established as the colony developed. One of the better known mail carriages by the Police was from Adelaide to Encounter Bay via Willunga during the 1850-60's and the illustration by graphic designer, Roger Roberts of Adelaide, features a Mounted Trooper of this period.
A special Police Mail was carried by I the South Australian Mourned Division from the Adelaide G.P.O. to the Stampex '86 Asian Region Internationa! Philatelic Exhihition at the Wawille Pavilion from 4-10 August 1986.
