Operation Pedestal RAF Stamp Cover

Gibraltar stamp was affixed to specially designed envelopes and postmarked on the first day that the cover was issued.

The pictorial postmark was the Map.

The operation Pedestal convoy passed through the Gibraltar Straits on 10th August,1942. Five merchant ships reached Malta, sixteen were sunk, as were the carrier Eagle and cruiser Cairo, The below shown cover was carried from Gibraltar to Malta by HMS Danae, a Leander class frigate, (Captain R.S. McCrum.)
