Australia Air Leagues  - Air Leagues of New Zealand

Commemorative flight 30th Anniversary 1st Tasman Crossing.  New Zealand and Australia joint issue postage stamps.

SOUTHERN CROSS Commemorative Flight Sponsored by the Air Leagues of New Zealand and Australia and flown by TEAL Super DC-6. Squadron Leader Charles Kingsford Smith, Lieutenant H. A. Charles T.P Ulm, T. H.  McWilliam  and H.A. Litchfield made the first aerial crossing of the Tasman Sea in the Fokker aeroplane "Southern Crodd" G-AUSU departing Richmond (N.S.W.) on 10th September, 1928, arriving Christchurch (N.Z.) on 11th September. On 13th October,  1928, the return crossing was made from Blenheim (N.Z.), arriving at Richmond (NSW) on 14th October.
